Impakt Works has invited artist Manuel Saiz.
Manuel
Saiz is a Spanish, London based visual artist. Since the middle
eighties he has been showing sculptures, photographic prints and
videos in art galleries and museums worldwide. Since 1995 he works
mainly in video and video installations. His productions have been
shown in many art film and video festivals, commercial galleries and
public spaces worldwide.
Manuel Saiz explores notions of what it means to be an artist (and a human
being) with unusual, often humorous perspectives. His work often
deals with the thin line between reality and art.
In
Utrecht he will work on the editing of his most recent work, Train
Time Zeit Zug, starting
August the 1st.
Train Time Zeit Zug is both a documentary and an exhibition about the plan of an artist
to construct a 2400 km circular high speed train track in central
Europe, crossing Germany, Austria, Italy, France, Belgium and The
Netherlands and transporting a convoy that will cover this circle in
12 hours, driving 200 km/h. This train track would serve as an art
installation, a continental dimension clock, a tourist attraction and
as a symbol of the European identity.
