Impakt Touring ProgramsIMPAKT HIGHLIGHTSare a state of the art selection of nowadays alternative visual culture. The Highlights selection contains about fourteen of the best works from an Impakt Festival. It goes without saying that prize-winning films are represented too in the selection. CULTURAL AUTOPSY Cultural Autopsy follows from a special theme program from the Festival in 2004. The program, also called Cultural Autopsy, consisted of documentaries, commercials, musical videos and video art. The Austrian filmmaker Lisl Ponger was the special guest of the program. Cultural Autopsy focuses on the way outsiders view our western society, and parallel to that on the way we ourselves perceive and represent foreign cultures. For the touring programs the theme is split in two parts: And Vise Versa and Other Worlds. Cultural Authopsy: And Vise Versa contains a lecture by Arjon Dunnewind supported by many video works. His presentation will argue the various ways and methods in which dominant ethnocentric representations can be subverted and replaced by using example projects of media-actionists like Kanak-TV and artists like Coco Fusco, Paul Heredia and Jiang Zhi. Cultural Autopsy: Other Worlds includes three short documentaries about (contemporary) explorers and their new surroundings with new customs. HABITAT EN UTOPIA Six quests for happiness, intimacy and perfection in contemporary urban settings. From futuristic fantasies to hard social realism and form intimate and sometimes somewhat sad encounters between complete strangers to world wide happiness.Habitat and Utopia THE MUSIC IS YOU The Music is You program contains a selection of mainly Dutch filmmakers and artists that explicitly deal with music and what it can represent. Apart from the video clip as the most obvious format the artists also delt with sound, music and pop culture in various other ways. Where in mainstream music video the song dominates the images some of the artists in this program treat image and sound as equals in order to achieve real synergy. Other artists focus on the lifestyle, the industry or the dreams that are behind the music and the role music plays in our lives. SECOND NATURE Humans and animals are sometimes no more than an inch apart. Literally, because they share habitats, or figuratively, because some people behave like animals and animals sometimes have human characteristics.Second Nature SUBLIME MOMENTS Beauty can be found everywhere: in an alley or in an underground car park, at a rock concert or at a crackling fireworks spectacle. But you must have an eye for it (and sometimes a long-focus lens can be helpful). Sublime Moments The Impakt Touring Programs are screened at other festivals, filmtheatres and museums, particularly abroad. For every show we charge the locale with a fixed screening fee, that will be divided proportionally among the participating artists.
