Pauze Festival 2008 with cooperation of. Theater Kikker, SJU, Jazzpodium, RumorPAUZE is an off-stream festival for new music taking place in the cities of Utrecht and Ghent. The festival offers an international cross section of unconventional, eccentric and, above all, exciting artists. PAUZE covers a myriad of musical expressions ranging from the cream of European outsider music and avant-garde, to old synthesizer psychedelics, Korean folk and improvisation. Next to performances, the festival features documentaries, short films, a lecture and a website full of background information. The three-day PAUZE festival offers more than enough material to fill all hiatuses in your knowledge about underground culture. On Thursday November 13th, the Avant-propos program of the festival stages music from Reinhold Friedl's Neo-Bechstein and the Reines d'Angleterre collective of Ghédalia Tazartes. In the afternoon part of the program, guitar builder Yuri Landman will give a lecture and in the early evening, we will be screening the documentary 'Wild Combination: a Portrait of Arthur Russell.' On Friday November 14th, Journey through a Burning Brain brings the cosmic sounds of Wooden Shjips, Arp, Sword Heaven and Köhn supported by a diverse visual program with live visuals by Kosmik Klaus and collage films by Thomas Draschan and Nathaniel Davis. Earlier that night, we will be screening the documentary 'People who do Noise.' |
