Mirko Schaefer's presentation at UNMA#5: Tagging the City

The UNMA is an Impakt Event organized in collaboration with z25, NetNiet.org and Utrecht University (Master New Media & Digital Culture). The central topic of the Utrecht New Media Night #5:Tagging the City was the new digital graffiti practices, and how to establish alternative communicative systems that remain bottom-up and subversive.

Dr. Mirko Tobias Schaefer is assistant professor at the Department for Media and Culture Studies, Utrecht University.
Mirko is co-editor of the recently published Digital Material. Tracing New Media in Everyday Life and Technology.

This presentation was introduction at Utrecht New Media Night #5 to graffiti culture, a history of graffiti, graffiti as a expressive medium in urban space.
