Impakt adventures in sound and image

Friday night music night

It was past midnight in the cold, but cozy Wharf Cellar on Oudegracht a/d Werf 222, where for 24 consecutive hours, Leif Inge played his stretched version of Beethoven's famous 9th Symphony.
We were actually on our way to Tivoli de Helling, where the Speed Tribes Event Night had just started, but somehow the hypnotizing sounds of the '9 Beet Stretch' kept us pinned to our fatboys...
After every one of us had suggested at least twice that we should get going, we finally managed to get up and be part of the real world again.
At de Helling then, we entered yet another world. A mixed crowd of Impakt crew members, artists, curators and of course the regular Tivoli partypeople gave promise for an interesting night. And what a night it turned out to be! The music was loud, the beer was flowing, the people were talking and dancing. Especially our guests from abroad. Apparently, the Dutchmen need a couple of extra beers before they're ready to lift their feet from the floor. And of course a little help from the performers.
Cooly G and The Bug were this night's highlights. Even the most insecure dancers in the room could not resist the beats these artists provided. Things died down a little during the performance of Mount Kimbie. With their mellow tunes they slowed down the pace of the nigth drastically, making me wish there was a nice, comfy couch around relax on.
This night was definitely one of extremes.
