Supersurface: An Alternative Model for Life on Earth - Superstudio (Italië, 1972, 10:00 min.)

With “Five Fundamental Acts” Superstudio took a decisive move towards the abandonment of architecture as a prop for human existence. Instead they choose to engage in the great themes of human life, creating an architecture based on the Life, Education, Ceremony, Love and Death. Life: Supersurface was first screened at the Museum of Modern Art during the famous 1972 exhibition "Italy: The New Domestic Landscape", curated by Emilio Ambasz.
Originally in 35mm, the colour film was intended to mimic promotional advertisements or commercial documentaries for the general public. An argument for human liberation and freedom of movement, the film projected an infinite communication and energy grid across the planet. Consisting primarily of animated stills and telescoping images, the final segment of the film turns to two live actors who join together in a dance of nature and technology.
